Time for Change
The George was purchased as a true Freehouse in February 2018. This was after many years of Pub Company ownership where, in some instances, and the George being one of those, re-investment simply isn't viable for either the tenant or the mammoth pub company, the latter because their heads, hearts and pockets lie elsewhere!
We are delighted to report that the new owners of the Freehold are pub people and have been running family owned, independent freehold pubs for over 40 years. We have now invested in the pub with refurbished toilets, new lighting, new furniture and redecoration throughout. Many of the original features have been given a new lease of life and we promise one thing, it will remain as a Great British Pub!

Our mission is simple but noble; to be the custodians that refurbish The George, so that it remains a hostelry, an Inn, your pub - customers old, present and new - for another 500 years yet.

Live Music
Live Music is still a regular feature at the George with everything from mod rock, punk rock, indie, club nights or Country. Keep an eye on our Social Media and if you spot something you like make sure you visit with friends and family.
Pool and Darts
What bar would be complete without a few games to blow off some steam?
After you grab a drink, feel free to pick up a pool cue or set of darts and play away!
